This “X” version is the basic version with an added melodic variation, giving it an extra chorus, making it 5 choruses long. The goal of this Level 2x instrumental is to continue to develop the fundamental skills acquired in the Level 1 and Level 2 “mini” songs. I suggest 4 months of experience before attempting this. Play everything using tongue blocking except for the chords, and tongue switch to play hole #1 without moving your jaw, if you can. Memorize the key, tempo, and groove of the song.
Remember, each CORE Bird Instrumental is important because it shows how to tastefully use chords multiple ways in blues and develop sideways tongue switching. It is also an artist study of Sonny Boy Williamson #2 aka Aleck “Rice” Miller.
