This LEVEL III instrumental is a study of the Hambone groove very often associated with many songs by Bo Diddley and early rock 'n roll. It’s an Afro-Cuban clave instrument rhythm. Most often you will hear this groove faster and used over a continuous 1 chord like the song “Bo Diddley.” The song “Willie And The Hand Jive” is an example of it, used with 3 chords, but not the standard 12-bar form. This piece is unusual in that it follows the 12-bar form, only straying for the long V. It is also an easier version of the study song “The Ham-Bo.”
